Circuit Breaker/ automatic element in series connection with earth fault protection type B meets requirements for DC- protection in accordance with NEK 400:2018 §722.531.2. Interpretation indicates that current- controlled ground fault protection type B or equivalent DC protection must be used on new current courses that are to be used for charging electric cars on plug-in hybrids.  

MCB / Miniature Circuit Breaker has C-Characteristic (tolerance period) which allows a certain overload within a given period of time. This is to allow, for example, any charging (and other things that require large starting currents to be allowed) to start with large currents without the machine having to switch off. The characteristic is determined by the electromagnet inside the fuse.

It is recommended to install a circuit breaker which is 80% continuous current load over time. For example- if a charging station continually charges with 16A, it is recommended to use a 20A fuse and appropriate cable cross-section for installation.
