1 Type of contact pins - pins with springs ensure that the pins hit each time in the contact and ensure good contact. Likewise, they also ensure longer durability, as they are not bent as easily.

2 Choice of material on the plug - rubberized handles provide a good and comfortable grip during use. UV radiation discolours thermoplastics over time and PA66 is highly resistant to discolouration.

3 Filler - 2 component epoxy causes the heat to spread out and extends the life of the plug. Likewise, the plug becomes more robust and rigid, and the eco-possession protects the conductors inside the plug and keeps them in place. The filler also means that the plug can withstand being run over.

4 Cable type - The quality of TPE is determined by the quality of the ingredients/materials and good production control. The cables are different even though apparently the same type of rubber is used. Please read more about this here.

5 Operational use in cold climates - The different rubber compounds harden/become hard at different temperatures. As we can have long and cold winters, this will be an aspect that affects usability. PUR cables are best suited for spiral cables due to the "stiffness" which ensures that it maintains its original shape.

6 UL 94 is the safety standard for flammability of plastic materials for parts in devices and appliances. The following classifications apply to the standard:

  • V-2: fire stops within 30 seconds on a vertical test; dripping of burning particles is permitted.

  • V-1: the fire stops within 30 seconds on a vertical test; dripping of particles allowed as long as they do not burn.

  • V-0: fireproof material which is the highest safety standard. The fire stops within 10 seconds on a vertical test; dripping of particles allowed as long as they do not burn.

A complete overview of the criteria and standard can be read here .

7 Cable strain relief - different lengths reduce the risk of breakage/breakage of the conductors in the cable due to weight/external influences on the charging cable during use.
