Surge protection (SPD) from GARO can be used in all types of power distribution systems. It is designed for mounting on DIN rail and fits under modular cover. Class C / II surge protection specially developed for protection against surges in low voltage installations. Most have replaceable protection modules and housings are halogen-free. Manufactured from flame-resistant PBT or flame-resistant nylon (depending on model). All terminals are made of copper, if aluminum is to be connected, transitions must be used.
For aerial lines, we have a special protection we call GST.
Can be used on systems with and without distributed ground.
From 1.1.2019, surge protection is a mandatory protection in the fuse box when installing a new power circuit for charging electric vehicles. This applies to both a new charging point or charging station.
We are obligated under the regulation on electrical equipment § 21 to inform our customers that all electrical materials intended to be included in a fixed electrical installation can only be installed by an authorized and registered installation company.

Do I need surge protection?
NEK 400:2018, standard 722 power supply for electric vehicles says the following:
It is now a requirement that the connection point must be protected by a surge protector. This can be surge protection that is in front of the entire installation.
The reason is that the number of rechargeable cars that have had their car destroyed as a result of lightning overvoltages or switching overvoltages is sharply increasing. The costs of a repair can amount to several hundred thousand and it is not certain that this is covered by the insurance. It is recommended to disconnect and disconnect the charging equipment during thunderstorms.
