Mennekes® is the German company that developed and designed what we call the ¨type 2¨ plug/ contact which is used in newer electric vehicles. The charging cable is manufactured in Germany and is of very high quality. It fits all electric cars and plug-in hybrids (PHEV) that have a type 2 charging inlet (eg Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, etc.).

 

Rubber Cap The charging cable is supplied with a rubber cap on the type 2 charging plug. It is connected to the car to protect it from dirt, water and dust while not in use and stored.	Robust and Flexible Cable Mennekes® has the market's most flexible and mechanically durable cable. It contains internal cable routing cushions, filling  the negative space within the cable- which protects the conductors when the cable is being bent or twisted. The optimal insulation thickness and rubber compound provides exceptionally long durability, increased safety and maximum flexibility.
Quality at All Levels The charging station is manufactured in Germany and follows strict quality control	Fully Cast Type 2 Plug The fully molded plugs are filled with epoxy creating a solid mass that fills the entire plug, thus spreading heat evenly. This avoids overheating of the charging contact. It also seals and protects the conductors, making it waterproof. The rubber handle provides a better grip while in use

 

Mennekes' charging cable fits all electric cars and plug-in hybrids with a type 2 connector (e.g. Renault ZOE, Mercedes B-class electric Drive and Tesla Model S/X) and fits charging stations with a type 2 outlet/connector. The charging cable is secured against theft and supports both auto lock. The charging cable will also lock on the charging station during charging and cannot be detached by unauthorized persons. The charging cable has a unique rubber compound that has been tested in various climates and remains soft and easy to handle even in sub-zero temperatures. At the same time it is robust and can withstand being run over.

Do I need a type 2 to type 2 cable?

The need depends on your usage pattern and whether you live around places that have installed charging points with a type 2 outlet. There are beginning to be more of these in Oslo because it provides increased security. At the same time, there is a lot of wear and tear, increased maintenance and more use of the schuko contact. Thus it is only a matter of time before the majority of charging points in the capital consist of type 2 connectors. If you have both this cable and mode 2 charging cable (e.g. the supplied charging cable) in the car, you can charge your car in most places.

How do I use the type 2 to type 2 charging cable?

Hvilken strømstyrke på ladekabelen bør jeg velge? 32A eller 16A?
Generelt sett vil vi anbefale en 32A ladekabel, ettersom dette er mer fremtidsrettet dersom du bytter elbil eller plug-in hybrid ved en senere anledning. 

Will a 32A charging cable work with 16A charging stations and cars with a maximum 16A charger in the car?

Yes, it is backwards compatible and a 32A charging cable will work with 16A charging stations. Cars with maximum 16A on-board charger will also work with a 32A charging cable, but will only charge with maximum 16A.
